[Macnn]-Ex-Apple worker claims 40 layoffs from Final Cut team
Apple has made 40 people from its Final Cut development team jobless, claims a former worker with the group, Pete Warden. The cuts are said to have happened a little over a week ago, and without any obvious explanation. Warden points out that Apple has been been enjoying high profits; this may mean that any cost-cutting efforts would have to revolve purely around maximizing returns and efficiency.Final Cut is moreover Apple’s signature professional-level software, a standard within the video editing industry. Final Cut Studio 3 was only released in July of 2009, and Apple has already produced a few updates. The company may intend to scale back development until it plans its next major product debut.
