Several readers have informed us and we have confirmed that Apple Store representatives are telling potential buyers of the company’s new Mac Pro announced earlier this week that the updated models are set to become available for ordering on August 9th. Company sales representatives on both chat and telephone support systems have cited that date for the launch. While ads began to appear in some applications, not all of the iAd network has have gone live. Last week, we noted that developers had begin incorporating support for Apple’s iAd mobile advertisements into updates for their applications, with a few applications starting to show placeholder banners and test ads ahead of the program’s official launch on July 1st. Now, just five days later, these updates are hitting shelves in the ramp up to iOS 4’s release next Monday. Boy Genius Report claims to have received information from a source at AT&T indicating that the carrier is set to introduce a hardware insurance program for the iPhone, allowing users to protect themselves (for a relatively substantial monthly fee) against replacement costs for out-of-warranty hardware failures, as well as accidental (including liquid) damage and loss or theft.
