There has been a lot of talk lately about Apple neglecting its core business – Macs and Mac OS X – supposedly because the company is too busy selling mobile devices powered by iOS, namely iPhone 4 and iPad. But rest assured, the Mac isn’t going anywhere. It’s still the #1 revenue generator and now Apple tells us that Mac OS X 10.7 will “truly amaze everyone.”

A new corporate job listing from Apple boasts of a “revolutionary” new feature for the foundations of Mac OS X that will “truly amaze everyone.”
The new job listing posted this week and discovered by AppleInsider makes numerous references to a specific, singular feature said to be a part of the Mac OS X operating system. Of course, it declines to reveal what that feature could be, but the ad does use the word “revolutionary” on three separate occasions.

In this week’s refresh of the Mac Pro and iMac lineup, Apple chose to only offer ATI graphics options in all configurations of the company’s latest desktops.
That’s a change from last October, when the iMac line was redesigned, and buyers of the the 21.5-inch iMac had the option of integrated graphics via the Nvidia GeForce 9400M. The discrete graphics options available in last year’s iMac line were all ATI cards.

A new feature of iOS 4 that enables iPhone and iPod touch devices to present a full featured control panel on an external display for use in automotive integration is getting official support from BMW.
The new “iPod Out” feature was originally profiled in April after developers noted support for the extended new “iPod Accessory Protocol” in pre-release betas of iOS 4.

BMW is the first car manufacturer to have announced support for a little-known feature in iOS 4 called iPod Out. CNET reported last week on this new iOS 4 feature:
This feature allows a connected iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPod Touch (second or third generation) to output and display an iPod interface on a connected device’s external screen. That device, in this case, would be a future BMW or Mini vehicle.
