As we noted yesterday, all signs were pointing to new products from Apple today. Well, the stars aligned, the Apple store closed, and now we have access to some hot new Apple gear. First of all, the Magic Trackpad is now officially available. It comes as no surprise, thanks to FCC documents and numerous leaks, but it’s still going to be a big release for Apple. Notes of Interest From Fiscal Q310 Earnings Call

Following the release of Apple’s third fiscal quarter results earlier today the company held a conference call for media and analysts. Below is a list of notes from the conference call. Apple ended the quarter with $45.8bn in cash up from $41.7bn. Worldwide Mac sales up 18 percent, portables up 37 percent and desktops down 12 percent. Mac sales were up 40 percent in the Americas, with revenue up 25 percent. Apple sold a record 3.47 million Macs in total, exceeding the previous record by 100,000. Jailbreaker GeoHot decides to withdraw from the web, goes invite only

GeoHot, or George Hotz to use his real name, has built up quite a following and reputation online. This is mainly due to his antics jailbreaking the iPhone and iPad, and working to re-enable PS3 Linux after Sony removed it with a firmware update. Aside from Signal Issue, Consumer Reports Rates iPhone 4 Highest Amongst All Smartphones

Earlier today, a Consumer Reports post made headlines after they concluded that they simply could not recommend the iPhone 4 due to the widely reported signal issues related to touching the lower-left corner of the device. This single issue alone has prevented them from fully recommending the iPhone 4. However, their formal testing otherwise revealed that the iPhone 4 ranked the highest amongst all smartphones in their testing. Samsung hopes to regain phone lead from Apple in France

Samsung today vowed to take back a lead in cellphone revenue in France from Apple’s iPhone. Although it still has the most popular phones by sheer volume, shipping 39 percent (4.5 million) of phones in the country, the Korean firm is upset that Apple now represents 26 percent of value in the market where Samsung has 25 percent.
