The new low-end iMac — one of several models released this week — displays some significant performance boosts over its predecessor, tests show. The latest version switches from a 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo CPU to a Core i3 processor of the same clock speed. Graphics are now handled by a dedicated ATI Radeon HD 4670 chipset with 256MB of onboard memory, instead of NVIDIA’s integrated GeForce 9400M; system RAM has been upgraded in speed from 1,066MHz to 1,333MHz.

Who the heck is Scott Forstall, you ask? He is the brains behind Mac OS X and the head honcho responsible for leading the development of iOS, Apple’s mobile operating system. This executive has apparently created a Twitter profile, seemingly in spite of Apple’s rigorous anti-social (networking) policies.

Adobe on Saturday posted a warning of a critical security vulnerability for both Flash and Acrobat. Both Mac and Windows versions of Flash 10.0 and earlier, as well as all versions of Acrobat 9, are susceptible to being exploited for remote control over a user’s computer. Motorola could be Apple’s most conspicuous rival this summer thanks to a pair of key deals with Verizon, leaks from inside the deal gave away this evening [sub. required]. The Droid maker will launch two Android smartphones in July and has persuaded Verizon to give both heavy promotion like the original had in November. Neither Motorola nor Verizon has directly confirmed the plans, but Motorola chief Sanjay Jha said just today that there ld be more Droid phones on the American carrier….

Palm is in the middle of a major corporate shuffle that could see its CEO Jon Rubinstein out, a major rumor argued this evening. The new structure and any other departures weren’t mentioned by the TechCrunch source, but the move itself would invariably be a reaction to dropping smartphone sales. Palm hasn’t had an opportunity to respond.
