Apple on Tuesday issued an update to a number of recent notebooks — including the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air — bringing inertial scrolling and three-finger drag gesture support to some trackpads.
Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 was released Tuesday afternoon by Apple. It is a 75.09MB update that requires Mac OS X 10.6.4. In addition to adding inertial scrolling and three-finger drag in recent MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks, it also adds support for Apple’s newly released $69 Magic Trackpad.

When you are at home the iPhone’s slim form-factor is isn’t the advantage that it is when you are out and about. The phone is hard to use hands-free (between your head and shoulder) and it doesn’t balance in an angled position that’s right for watching a video or gaming without holding it. AT&T, the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the U.S., recently sent out certificates to some customers, granting them free 3G MicroCell devices for improved reception at home.
A number of AT&T users have reported that they were contacted by the wireless provider, offering them a free 3G MicroCell with no strings attached. One AppleInsider reader said they received a letter over the weekend thanking them for being an AT&T customer and offering the hardware.

Some iPhone 4 owners have reported color oddities with photos they’ve taken with the camera on the back of the newly released phone. The iPhone’s 5-megapixel camera will take crisp daylight and brightly lit indoor photos that show colors accurately, but then have issues correctly capturing images in low light with, or without, the LED flash.

Foxconn is reportedly preparing to move a portion of its Apple production to north and central China, according to a Financial Times report. The change, which will shift Apple projects away from Shenzhen, is said to be driven by cost considerations as the manufacturer raises wages in its southern facilities.

Some users have experienced poor signal and dropped calls when holding Apple’s new iPhone 4 in their left hand, which makes their palm cover a seam that separates the device’s two perimeter radio antennas.

Some of the first iPhone 4 units shipped to customers have problems with yellow tinted displays and disappearing signal bars, users have reported.
As first reported by TUAW, some users who received an iPhone 4 early found that the Retina Display on the new handset has a discoloration in the bottom corners of the screen.
“In the bottom 10% of the screen there are three blotches about the size of shirt buttons that discolor the screen a brown/yellow color,” one user wrote.

A number of people received their iPhone 4 shipment early on Tuesday — two days before the handset’s official launch — and managed to successfully activate the device [Updated].
One California attorney wrote on Twitter Tuesday that he received his iPhone. Gil Cabrera said he received a message that read “Your iPhone activation session has expired” upon attempting to activate the handset through iTunes.
