Even though Apple had no presence at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, the company’s iPhone and general influence was omnipresent, prompting the media to vote Apple’s charismatic CEO Steve Jobs “Mobile Industry Personality of the Year”.
The title was announced at the Global Mobile Awards 2010 ceremony on Tuesday. The event closed the world’s largest gathering of the biggest players in the mobile industry. Humorist Stephen Fry hosted the afternoon closing ceremony while Duran Duran headlined the evening celebration party.

Despite Apple’s notable absence at Mobile World Congress, CEO Steve Jobs has been named “Mobile personality of the year” by the GSM Association as voted by the media. Jobs’ award was the only award won by Apple at the event, however, as Best Mobile Handset or Device went to the HTC Hero. Though Apple and its co-founder were not present at this week’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, Steve Jobs took top honors at the event, being named “Mobile Industry Personality of the Year.”

Guess which futuristic gadget made a cameo at that 52nd Annual Grammy awards. The Apple ipad has been unveiled just last week and it is already making waves in the digital industry and even beyond. For a device that has yet to be fully out there, people already recognize it quite well.
