The new FaceTime video calling feature of iPhone 4 does not require mobile service after first use, enabling users to establish video chat from any WiFi hotspot, even while in Airplane Mode.
In reviewing FaceTime and mobile performance, AppleInsider originally reported that that making a FaceTime call requires an activated phone with service. However, that’s only true for the first FaceTime session made from the phone.

Rumors of a Verizon iPhone arriving this summer continue to surface, with CrunchGear claiming Landor Associates, which handles Verizon’s branding, is working an advertising campaign regarding Apple’s next-generation handset.
Author John Biggs simply cited a “tipster” in Tuesday’s report, which said that Landor Associates are “hard at work” in preparation for the fourth-generation iPhone. The report said Brad Scott, senior director with Landor, is believed to be in charge of the team.

I’ve been thinking about “write-once, run-anywhere” languages (like Flash and Java), and while I once thought they were the future of app writing, I must reluctantly admit Steve is right: you DO get lowest-common-denominator apps out of that … and if they DO have a model to base the code on, it’s always gonna be Windows.

The same day that Steve Jobs spelled out Apple’s opposition to Flash on its mobile devices, Adobe’s CEO responded, calling the problems cited by Apple a “smokescreen.”
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen contends that Apple’s decision to bar developers from using Flash to make mobile apps is restrictive move that hurts both software makers and end users.
